The Story of Steph’s Birthday Present.
February 5, 2009Well…for a while now she has loved taking pictures and getting them developed at Target. She uses her Apple and Photoshop to create all kinds of great things. One thing she really likes to do is make those 4×8 cards that people mail out during holidays (especially Christmas). Up to this point she has been unable to print them at home…until now.
She has a Canon Selphy 740? photo printer. It comes equipped to print 4×6 photos. Which is good, but not 4×8 good. The documentation for the printer says that it can use a special paper holder and paper to print the 4×8 photos. However, here is where the weirdness begins.
I decided to buy the part and the paper for her birthday. Oh did I ever have an experience. Everywhere I looked on line nothing ever told me that the printer was able to use the holder and the paper. Places sold the paper, but not the part. Interesting. I found a website www.canon.com that guided me to a site that listed the options for the printer. So I called canon to order it. They told me that I could not order the part because it is only sold in Japan. I had the part number, so I knew that it worked in the printer, and the printer materials said that it could print 4×8 sheets. Therefore I disregarded what the canon guy said and searched for the part on e-bay. None found. I looked on Amazon. 2 items found. From what I could tell this item is tough to find, but I ordered one of the only two I saw on Amazon.
The paper and the holder part came in just a couple of days ago. They both work great, and Steph is happy. All is well in mudville.
